Research
The Australian National University’s research in Anthropology is diverse and world-renowned. The University is a leading international centre for research on Aboriginal Australia, Melanesia, Micronesia, Polynesia and Asia in particular. Current research interests of academics and students include
ANU hosts many special research projects funded by the Australian Research Council (ARC) and/or other bodies. For some examples, see current research projects. Research undertaken here employs innovative methodologies together with a solid grounding in theory. Creative interdisciplinary approaches are encouraged. Anthropological research is conducted in the Department of Anthropology, the Resource Management in Asia-Pacific Program and the Gender Relations Project in the Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies, the Department of Archaeology and Anthropology in the The Faculties, the North Australia Research Unit, the Centre for Aboriginal Economic Policy Research, and the Centre for Cross Cultural Research. There are close links with other disciplines within the University such as Linguistics, Human Geography, History and Southeast Asian Studies.
